Meet Sheletta
Sheletta Brundidge created Sheletta Makes a Difference (SheMAD), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering families through autism awareness, education, health and wellness. Inspired by her children’s journey and her family’s advocacy work, Sheletta transformed her experience into a vehicle for real-world life-changing impact.
Sheletta Makes a Difference focuses on providing autism-related safety tools, voter education, support for small business owners and wellness initiatives. With heart, humor, and relentless determination, Sheletta is making a difference one family at a time.
How We Help
Sheletta Makes a Difference provides free safety locks and devices to families with autistic children who wander—a common and dangerous behavior. These safety kits help parents secure windows, doors, and other exit points, offering peace of mind and reducing risk of injury, disappearance, or drowning. SheMAD also provides free informational workshops to help parents and caregivers get access to resources to help their special needs children.
SheMAD partners with schools, churches, neighborhood organizations, corporations and government agencies to provide comprehensive educational training on everything from employment resources to voter outreach to small business supports in order to strengthen understanding, reduce stigma, and ensure people get the tools they need to have a better quality of life.
SheMAD shares vital health information with community partners regarding teen mental health, equitable access to care, substance misuse disorder and county services to assist and uplift families navigating complex healthcare systems.
